Kryoneri Cultural Association: dance, music and volunteering since 1985
ArticleKryoneri is known to many for its Observatory. Anyone passing through the village in July will discover something else too: the Kryoneri Cultural Association, which has filled the summer with dance and music for decades.
The business in this article is a Visit Corinthia partner. We describe it using what it says about its own work; hours and details can change, so check its page before you go.
Started by the village’s young people in 1985
The association was founded in 1985 by young people of Kryoneri, originally as the “Cultural and Educational Youth Association of Kryoneri”. It is based at the Youth Club, renovated in 2003, which also works as a lending library for members and residents.
Traditional dance — all the way to the 2004 Olympics
Since 1993 the association has taught traditional dance at the village’s Community Centre, for children and adults. Its dance troupes have travelled to the Czech Republic, Germany, Serbia, Italy, Hungary and Belgium, and a troupe from the association took part in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

The Cultural Week every July
The highlight of the year is the Kryoneri Cultural Week in mid-July. In 2026 it ran from 6 to 15 July at the Kryoneri high school, co-organised with the Municipality of Sikyonion and the Region of Peloponnese. It includes:
- the Two-Day Traditional Dance Festival, with troupes from the association and beyond;
- music nights and concerts;
- Karagiozis shadow theatre and clown shows for children;
- artistic gymnastics and film screenings.
The association’s music nights have hosted artists such as Nikos Papazoglou, Pyx Lax, Socratis Malamas, Dimitris Basis and Manolis Lidakis.
All year round: blood drives and classes
Since 1999 the association has run a voluntary blood drive twice a year. It also offers taekwondo and artistic gymnastics classes, and supports every village event together with the local community, the municipality and other local groups.
