The Sikyon museum has something you rarely find: it is housed inside the ancient monument itself. The building is a Roman bath, and you walk among the exhibits beneath ancient vaults.
The city of art
Ancient Sikyon was no ordinary city. In antiquity it was famous as a centre of painting and bronze sculpture, with a school that influenced the whole Greek world. The museum reflects that: sculpture, mosaics, pottery and fine metalwork.
What you will see
The display is led by mosaic floors, architectural members from the public buildings of the city, and finds from the surrounding area. The archaeological site with the theatre and stadium lies right beside it.
