straight-line distances
Sofiko is one of the largest villages in south-eastern Corinthia and the centre of an area quite unlike the rest: here the pine forest dominates, the terrain is mountainous, and the sea lies just below on the Saronic side.
Its character
This is a village with a tradition of stock-raising and resin, with a broad square and a life that does not depend on tourism. Above the settlement stand the ruins of the medieval castle of Sofiko.
What is around
- Korfos: a picturesque bay with tavernas and clear water, a few kilometres south.
- Forest tracks and paths through the pine woods.
- The beaches of the eastern coast, from Almyri to Katakali.
Practical notes
- .
- The roads are winding; allow extra time.
- A good base for exploring the little-known southern part of Corinthia.
