Agionori is a small village in southern Corinthia, built below its medieval castle. Its position on a mountain pass towards the Argolid gave it a historical weight out of proportion to its size.
The history
The defiles of this area were used repeatedly in military operations, from medieval times down to the Revolution of 1821 — Dervenakia lies in the same mountain zone.
What you will see
The castle above the village, with views over the gorge, and the village itself with its stone houses and square.
Practical notes
- Mountain access from Corinth or Chiliomodi.
- Reaching the castle requires an uphill walk.
