straight-line distances

In the mountainous north-western corner of Corinthia, in the valley of Feneos, a small museum gathers the finds of an area most people visit for its scenery rather than its history — unfairly so.

What you will see

The cases present finds from the archaeological site of Ancient Feneos, where a sanctuary dedicated to Asklepios has been identified, together with material from wider sites across the valley: sculpture, pottery, coins and objects of daily life.

The museum earns its place by tying landscape to history: the same valley known today for Lake Doxa and its fir forests was in antiquity an organised region of sanctuaries and settlements.

Practical notes

  • In mountain Corinthia.
  • It is small — half an hour is enough, ideally combined with Lake Doxa.
  • Mountain weather changes fast; check road conditions in winter.
  • Confirm opening hours before travelling.
