Acrocorinth

AcrocorinthA must-see in Corinthia

📍 Check in with Corinthia PassThe Acrocorinth is a steep rock standing 575 metres tall, dominating the plain of Corinth. Ancient Corinth was built at its northern foothills. Due to its morphology, Acrocorinth was used since ancient times as a lookout, eventually becoming a fortified castle (Acropolis) from which any potential invasions from mainland Greece or the sea could be monitored. During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, it was referred to by the fighters as “Akrokorthos,” and Corinth was called “Korthos”.
