Corinthia hides a paradise for nature lovers: wetlands and lakes where dozens of bird species nest and rest.
Lake Stymphalia — Natura 2000
At around 600 metres altitude, the mythical Lake Stymphalia — where Heracles faced the Stymphalian Birds — is today a protected Natura 2000 wetland with more than 130 bird species: herons, ducks, moorhens and raptors. Right beside it, the Environment Museum of Stymphalia illuminates the ecosystem.
When to go
The best seasons are spring and autumn, during migration. Bird activity peaks in the early morning and late afternoon.
Tips
Bring binoculars, a camera with a telephoto lens and quiet footsteps. Respect the wildlife and stay on the paths. Lake Vouliagmeni at Perachora also offers lovely watching moments.
