Kechries combines something you rarely find together: a beach and an archaeological site in the same place. The modern village is built on top of the ancient eastern harbour of Corinth.
What you will see
In the shallow water you can make out the submerged remains of the ancient moles and buildings. On a calm day the effect is remarkable — you are essentially swimming above an ancient harbour.
According to the Acts of the Apostles, Saint Paul passed through here, and it was on this same spot that the unique glass panels now in the Isthmia Museum were found.
Practical notes
- .
- Respect the ancient remains — do not stand on them or remove anything.
- There are tavernas beside the beach.
