Perigiali

Perigiali

Perigiali lies immediately west of Corinth, where the long coastal strip of the region begins. Its name means exactly what it is: the place beside the shore.

What you will find

A pebble beach, tavernas and cafes, and easy access from town. It is one of the spots Corinthians use for a quick swim or a meal by the sea.

Very close by are Lechaion with its ancient harbour and Ancient Corinth.

History and character

Perigiali lies at the edge of the Vocha plain, and its people work in farming and tourism.

The Austrian archduke and traveller Ludwig Salvator described it in 1876 as a village by the sea with 50 houses. In 1912 it became a separate community that also included Kolompotsi, today’s Lechaio, which separated in 1946. From 1997 to 2010 it was the seat of the Municipality of Assos-Lechaio.
