Pitsa — divided into Upper and Lower — lies in northern Corinthia, between the coast and the highlands. Its name is better known in archaeology than in tourism.
The Pitsa panels
In a cave near the village were found the wooden painted panels of Pitsa, among the very few surviving examples of ancient Greek painting on wood. They date to the 6th century BC and are now kept in the National Archaeological Museum.
The village today
A quiet settlement with views over the gulf, cultivated land and access to mountain routes. The coast and its beaches lie a few kilometres below.
