Perachora gives its name to an entire peninsula — and that peninsula is one of the finest corners of Corinthia. The village sits high above Loutraki, looking out over the Corinthian Gulf.

• Lake Vouliagmeni: an almost enclosed lagoon with calm water and tavernas along the shore.
• The Heraion of Perachora: the ancient sanctuary of Hera, built literally at the water edge.

The village

Perachora itself keeps the character of a mountain village that happens to look at the sea: a square, cafes, quiet streets. It is the natural coffee stop before you drop down to the lake or the ancient sanctuary.

Practical notes

• About 10 km from Loutraki, on a steep but good road.
• The road to the lighthouse continues another 10 km out along the peninsula.
• The area fills up in summer — come early or outside weekends.
