Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni
One of the oldest monasteries in Corinthia, from the 16th century, in a pine-clad setting near Chiliomodi — with a history reaching back to 1821.
In a pine-covered setting about 3 km from Chiliomodi stands the Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni — one of the oldest in Corinthia, dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin.
History
The convent dates to the 16th century. Its katholikon is decorated with post-Byzantine wall paintings. During the 1821 War of Independence it served as a camp for the fighters and a refuge for local civilians.
Visiting
Its calm, wooded setting makes it an ideal pilgrimage and a peaceful stop away from the noise — a window into Corinthia’s living religious tradition.
