visitcorinthia.comZiria (Mount Kyllini)

Ziria — known in antiquity as Kyllini — is the second highest mountain in the Peloponnese, its summit rising above 2,370 metres. It dominates the whole of upland Corinthia and is the reason the region is far more than a coastline.
The myth
In mythology Hermes was born on Mount Kyllini. The mountain was sacred to the god.
What to do
- The Ziria ski centre in winter, with runs cut through fir forest.
- Hiking to the summit and across the high plateaus in spring and autumn.
- Lake Doxa on the western foothills — among the finest landscapes in the Peloponnese.
- The mountain villages: Trikala, Goura, Karya.
Practical notes
- Access bases: Trikala Korinthias and Goura.
- Snow chains are needed in winter; mountain weather changes abruptly.
- Climbing to the summit calls for experience and proper equipment.
