Kato Tarsos lies 51.2 km west of Corinth, roughly 15.5 km from Derveni.
What to expect
A mountain village at about 1,040 metres on the slopes of Mount Kyllini, with very few permanent residents. Above it, set in a cleft of the sheer cliffs known as the ‘Corinthian Meteora’, is the Monastery of Panagia tou Vrachou (Our Lady of the Rock); the area also has the Byzantine church of the Taxiarches. About a kilometre away is the Cave of the English, a refuge for British paratroopers during the Occupation.

Practical notes
- The climb to Panagia tou Vrachou needs good shoes; dress modestly at the monastery.
- Snow can close the road in winter.
- Plan food and services in the larger villages of the Feneos area.
