Gonousa is a small mountain village of Sikyonia, south of Kiato. It belongs to the line of settlements spread across the hinterland, away from the tourist coast.
Its character
Life here has traditionally rested on stock-raising and farming. The population is small and the settlement keeps its shape: a square, a church, stone houses and lanes that end in the fields.
Until 1928 the village was called Liopesi; it was then renamed Gonoussa after ancient Gonoessa, which Homer lists in the Catalogue of Ships.
Practical notes
- Reached from Kiato on a mountain road.
- A quiet destination; for accommodation and more places to eat, Kiato is close by.
- Combine it with Titani, Klimenti and the other Sikyonia villages.
